DANIEL ISPAS - violin

Daniel Ispas studies at the George Enescu High School of Music, then at the prestigious Romanian National Academy of Music in Bucharest, from where he graduates with honours in 1987, in the class of professor
Modest Iftinchi. His other mentors are Efim Boico (USA) and Amayak Dourgarian (Spain).

In 1991, as a member of the Serioso String Quartet, Daniel wins an assistantship in the Master's program at the Chamber Music Institute of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (USA), where he studies with the prestigious Fine Arts Quartet.

During his studies in the United States, he participates in master classes with internationally renowned musicians such as Ruben Gonzales, Daniel Benyamini, Joseph Genualdi and Erick Friedman, among others. In 1992, the Serioso String Quartet is invited as a quartet in residence at the New Hampshire Music Festival for a 3-month internship.

Daniel leads a rich career as a recitalist and chamber musician. He founds the Matheus String Quartet (in Spain) and the Quartet Noir (Australia), with which he participates in numerous musical events, including the Terrace Proms - Perth International Music Festival and the Blackwood River Music Festival (Australia).

Throughout his career, Daniel gives numerous violin recitals in Romania, Italy, Spain, France, Australia and the USA. During his residency in Australia, he is a member of the Trio Enaria and the concertmaster of the Elandra Chamber Orchestra, with which he also performs as a soloist.

At the same time, Daniel is also a devoted violin and chamber music teacher (Romania, the USA, Spain, Australia and France). Between 1999 and 2007, in Australia, he is the music director and conductor of two student orchestras: Margaret Sutherland Orchestra (high school) and Glanville-Hicks Orchestra (college), with which he participates with great success at all the ABODA Youth Orchestras Competitions.

In addition, Daniel works with the Western Australian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and is invited as a member of the jury in numerous auditions and competitions for young violinists, including the 3rd Marie Cantagrill International Violin Competition (France).

Between 1992 and 2010, Daniel is a permanent member of the Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias (Spain), the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra (Australia) and the Balearic Symphony Orchestra (Spain).

Due to his international career, Daniel speaks fluently English, French, Spanish, Romanian and Italian.

Since 2010 Daniel Ispas is the principal second violin of the National Orchestra of the Pays de la Loire (France), which he represents as a soloist in Florianopolis (Brazil) in 2015, in a concert organised by the Alliance Française.

In addition, in 2012 he becomes a violin teacher at the Nantes Music Conservatory (France).
